Installing PSIfusion

Introduction


This section of the guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to install the PSIfusion application onto your server.

Prerequisites

Before running the PSIfusion Installation Package, make sure you have confirmed that your server conforms to the suggested System Requirements and that you have followed the previous steps for Installing Prerequisites required to run the Fusion service and configure a deployment. In order to operate, PSIfusion requires a suitably fast host computer and/or target system(s) configured with correct versions of both Microsoft IIS and Microsoft SQL Server.

Installation Package

Obtain the Installation Package from your PSIGEN reseller, support representative, or sales representative, or via the Software Downloads section of our website if you have a login. The package will have a filename that includes the version number of PSIfusion that it installs if you wish to archive it later (see Figure 1).

Running the Installation Package


Once your server fits the specifications and prerequisites, run the Installation Package to install all PSIfusion program files. 

Note: If User Account Control (UAC) is enabled on your server, you may see several prompts to confirm installation actions (see Figure 2). Your server's security settings may also require you to select the Installation Package, right click, and choose  to run the installation package with full permissions.

Phase 1: Prerequisites Installer

First, any prerequisite .NET libraries which are not detected on the server will be automatically installed first (see Figure 3). These include Microsoft .NET and C++ Redistributable libraries, which are necessary framework for the product to run and should not be bypassed.

While these libraries are copied to the system, the installer window may appear unresponsive, but as long as each line item on the prerequisites list reports that it is either installed or installing (See Figure 4) then the installation is proceeding normally. It is best not to make any other changes to the system while the Prerequisites Installer is running. After these items are complete, your system may restart; this is also to be expected, so make sure that any users connected to the server are aware that other services that are also being provided (websites, databases, domain services, active directory, etc.) may be unavailable during your PSIfusion installation.

If the  option was selected in Phase 1, then the next phase will begin automatically as soon as the Prerequisites Installer is done, or when the server is done rebooting, the user has logged in, and the system has loaded all of its startup services. If this option was unchecked, run the Installation Package again to proceed with the next phase.

If all prerequisite Microsoft libraries are detected on the system, then Phase 1 will be bypassed, and the next phase will appear automatically.

Note

Failure to install all prerequisite files may result in the product not working correctly, or not working at all.

Phase 2: PSIfusion Installer

Next, the PSIfusion program files are ready to be copied to the system. These include the core product libraries, the default web site deployment files, and other configuration files.

The option to Install will only appear once the License Terms and Conditions have been agreed to by marking the checkbox which indicates that you agree to the terms (see Figure 5). The default installation path is C:\Program Files (x86)\PSIGEN\Fusion – you may change this path if you wish, though this is usually not necessary. Once the install path is set and the terms are agreed, click the Install button to begin (see Figure 6).

After this, the program files will begin copying, and a progress bar will display the current status. Shortly after, if all program files were successfully unpackaged and installed, then the installer will report that it was successful (see Figure 7). Click the Finish button to close the installer; the installation is now complete.

Post Installation


As mentioned earlier, once installation is complete, the Installation Package can be archived or deleted as necessary.

A detailed, technical log of any actions performed by the installer can be found at C:\ProgramData\PSIGEN\Fusion\Setup\InstallLog.txt. This log also includes details on any errors that may have occurred; when reporting PSIfusion installation errors to PSIGEN Support, your support technician will likely request this log file.
