Automation Tab

For an overall description of how our Automated Services work please see our article "Overview of Automation Services and Load Balancing".

Auto Import Service

This feature allows the user to enable the automated processing of documents based on monitored directories. These directories can be set for individual document types during Document Type Configuration.

To enable Auto Import check the box(es) that best apply:

  • Enable the Auto Import Service on the local machine (NOTE: This box must be checked to enable ALL Automation Services including Workflow Auto Processing)
    • Enable Auto Import detailed logging for the local machine
  • Suspend the Auto Import service with Capture application is open

Auto Import Service Status

This list shows the “Location” (computer name) and “Status” of each PC that has enabled the Auto Import service is shown. NOTE: Error messages can be found by clicking on the "Details" button on the bottom right of the screen.

Processing File Sets shows the number of file sets currently being processed.

Queued File Sets shows the number of file sets which are queued up awaiting processing. These are managed by the Capture Server which passes these file sets to available PC’s.

Suspended File Sets shows the number of file sets that are suspended due to manual processing steps.

The "Restart" button allows you to restart any PC's in the list that appear disabled. The "Details" button brings up an Auto Import Summary window as shown below with a list of "Monitored Directories" and "Suspended File Sets".

Auto Import Advanced Settings

Impersonation allows the Auto Import process to access local and network resources using an alternative set of credentials. Otherwise the Auto Import process will use the credentials specified in the Platform Services service\properties\logon tab.

NOTE: Setting Impersonation may have unexpected results and should only be set by a qualified IT Professional.

Workflow Auto Processing

This feature allows the user to automatically process workflow steps for existing, checked-in batches in the central Batch Manager.

Processing Options

Processing Mode
  • Auto process individual workflow steps - This searches for batches that are waiting to perform one of the workflow steps you specify. The search ignores Exception batches, Suspended batches, and batches configured to attempt auto processing of the batch through its workflow. Choose the steps to process from the Available list and add them to the Selected list. The order of the steps determines precedence.
  • Auto process Batches through workflow from next available step - This searches for batches that are configured to attempt auto processing of the batch through its workflow (Step 9 of 10). The search includes Exception batches BUT ignores Suspended batches. The processor will attempt to restart normal batch auto processing beginning with the next workflow step.
  • Disable normal Auto Import processing - As described this checkbox enables you to run only Workflow Auto Processing.

Document Types

On this tab the user can choose to process all document types or specific document types. However, document types cannot be processed if the automated workflow option was not configured in the Workflow step (9 of 10).

Bypassed Batches

On this tab you will find a list of batches that have been bypassed due to processing errors or workflow step. The user has the options:
