General Information (Part 1)

Step one of the Document Type Configuration allows the user to enter preliminary information about a particular Document Type.

Document Type Information


The Document Type name will be displayed throughout program including the Batch Manager and Batch Select screens. For this reason, it should be as descriptive as possible of the Documents that will be captured using this Document Type. Examples: Invoices, Purchase Orders, Mike’s Documents. This name is unique and cannot be duplicated on another Document Type.


The Document Type description field allows the user to give a more complete description of a Document Type. This can be useful if there are multiple Document Types with similar Names. The description will be displayed along with the Name when selecting a Document Type in the Configured Document Types portion of the Document Types Tab.


User can specify a group for which the document type belongs to for organizational purposes. A unique group name must be defined if the user wishes to enables Toggle Grouping. Otherwise, the default value will be “user”.

Allowed Roles

Roles are defined in the Security Module, and which roles can access this Document Type or which portion of this document type can be selected here or in the Security Module.

Enable Auto-Import

Enabling Auto-import allows for the monitoring of one or more local, network or WebDAV folder location. These folders may be populated by MFP devices, network scanners, email/Fax server’s or other devices which produce tif, pdf, jpg, bmp, png or other data file types supported in Document Type Configuration/Data File Indexing.
