Image Storage Options

This section allows the user to determine the compression of the images stored.

Black and white format compression

This is the format that images in black and white will be stored in while inside the product. NOTE: This is NOT necessarily the place to define the final output choice but may play a role in what is possible. User options are:

  • TIFF -CCIT3 Compression
  • TIFF -CCIT4 Compression
  • TIFF -LZW Compression
  • TIFF -No Compression

Grayscale format compression

This is the format that images in grayscale will be stored in while inside the product. NOTE: This is NOT necessarily the place to define the final output choice but may play a role in what is possible. User options are:

  • TIFF -JPEG Compression*
  • TIFF -JPEG Compression (Obsolete)*
  • TIFF -LZW Compression
  • TIFF -PackBits Compression
  • TIFF -No Compression

Color format compression

This is the format that images in Color will be stored in while inside the product. NOTE: This is NOT necessarily the place to define the final output choice but may play a role in what is possible. User options are:

  • TIFF -JPEG Compression*
  • TIFF -JPEG Compression (Obsolete)*
  • TIFF -LZW Compression
  • TIFF -PackBits Compression
  • TIFF -No Compression

*These compression options allow the user to set the JPEG Quality of the image. When selecting TIFF - JPEG Compression, users can specify the JPEG Compression Quality ranging from 0 (lowest quality) to 100 (highest quality). The default is 75. Setting this setting higher will increase the size of the file.

Convert color images with no color to black and white

Checking this option reduces image file size, thus increasing speed.

Imported File Options

Determines what PSIcapture does to the source image file/folder after import or auto import, such as archive, delete, or do nothing (default).

Post import action options:

  • None - When using Auto Import, files will be archived to the "Archive" subdirectory within the monitored folder directory.
  • Archive Imported Files - Allows the user to choose where to archive the files. In addition to location users can determine the subfolder archival options.
  • Subfolder Archival Options
    • No Subfolders - all archived files will be put directly in the selected
    • Batch Name - archived files will be put in a subfolder within the Archive Directory labeled the batch name they were imported into
    • Import Date - archived files will be put in a subfolder within the Archive Directory named with the date on which they were imported.
    • Import Date/Batch Name - archived files will be put in a subfolder within the Archive Directory named with the date on which they were imported and then in a child subdirectory labeled the batch name they were imported into.
  • Delete Imported Files - Once the Auto Import has finished PSIcapture will delete the files from the monitored folder.

Store Imported Image as Alternate Page File

Stores the original image from the import source file(s) separately before any modifications had been preformed. This Alternate Page will be viewable via “Page Information” in Capture, Quality Assurance, and Index modules.
